Lawrence Korbandy is a distinguished Advocate and Commissioner for Oaths with extensive experience spanning multiple jurisdictions and disciplines of law. His academic foundation is both rigorous and international. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Baghdad (Faculty of Law and Politics), a Postgraduate Diploma in Development and International Cooperation from the University of Barcelona, Spain, and a Professional Diploma in International Relations and Diplomatic Practice from the Clingendael Institute of International Studies in the Netherlands.

A trained diplomat and seasoned legal practitioner, Lawrence has practiced law in South Sudan and internationally, including as an Associate at Costa and Diaz Associated Advocates in Spain. His areas of practice span Corporate and Commercial Law, Humanitarian Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Mergers and Acquisitions, Property Conveyance, Legislative Drafting, and Labour Law. He brings particular depth to the drafting of Concession Agreements in the areas of strategic resources, including timber and petroleum.

Beyond private practice, Lawrence has made enduring contributions to the legal and governance landscape of South Sudan. He is the founding President of the South Sudan Law Society, a current member of the National Constitution Review Commission (NCRC) where he heads its Human Rights Subcommittee, and serves as Chair of the South Sudan Human Rights Commission.

Lawrence is fluent in English, Spanish, and Classical Arabic, and communicates in several South Sudanese indigenous languages, reflecting his deep connection to the communities he serves.
